娑婆

(sa) sahā; that which bears, the earth, v. [lang id =1028]地; intp. as bearing, enduring; the place of good and evil; a universe, or great chiliocosm, Where all are subject to transmigration and which a Buddha transforms; it is divided into three regions [lang id =1028]三界 and Mahābrahmā Sahāmpati is its lord. Other forms: [lang id =1028]娑婆世界; [lang id =1028]娑界; [lang id =1028]娑媻; [lang id =1028]娑訶; [lang id =1028]沙訶; [lang id =1028]索訶.

娑婆世界的簡稱， 娑婆華譯為堪忍， 因此世界的眾生堪能忍受十惡三毒及諸煩惱而不肯出離， 故名堪忍世界， 或簡稱忍土。
